Christ said to watch for wars and rumours of wars. Right now, we’re watching for viruses and rumours of viruses.
That’s because wars and viruses have become the same thing.
In the event of a new disease breaking out in our society, our leaders say we’re “at war” with an unseen, biological enemy, more potent and powerful than anything we can comprehend.
I do not deny that diseases can be dangerous; they can certainly be deadly. But my concern is with our leader’s fascination with the term, “at war.”
After all, we know what governments are capable of when it comes to war. They’re eager to restrict our freedoms in regular circumstances, but when it comes to periods of battle, they’re all the more excited to do so.
